First you need to pick out two complimentary colors and a top coat.Image

The tools you will need are : a Sponge, a plastic sheet, and toothpicks.Image

Using the lightest of the two colors paint your whole nail and wait for it to dry completely. Image

Next paint a generous amount of the colors right next to each other, almost touching, on to the plastic.

Nail Polish Collections

Nail polish collections are inspired by famous movies, tv shows, books, or artist. Some of the latest collections have been inspired by Nicki Minaj, Hunger Games, Muppets, the Oscars, Justin Bieber, The Amazing Spider Man, Shrek, Serena Williams, Pirates of the Caribbean, Twilight, James Bond, Footloose, the Kardashians Burlesque, Katy Perry, Dark Shadows, Glee, and Alice in Wonderland.

All of these collections come from pop culture icons and hits. Artists like Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, and Katy Perry have a huge fan following and distinct characteristics that make it easy to have different polish colors. Movies like Hunger Games, Twilight, Pirates of the Caribbean, and many more also have huge fan bases and are normally a part of a series. The names of the colors have to with song titles, characters, major themes, or characteristics.

Nail Polish History

A lacquer, also known as nail polish and nail varnish, that is applied to fingernails and toenails as a decoration or protection. The Incas used to paint picture on their nails. Fingernails were first tinted rather than fully colored. In the 19th century cookbooks used to have directions on how to make fingernail polish. In 1917 Cutex created the first modern version of fingernail polish. Paris in the 1920’s was the first time and place fingernail polish really started and became a trend. Fingernail polish was then used in place of gloves to cover up dirty fingernails. Eleanor Roosevelt was the first women to wear solid colored fingernail polish even though at the time psychiatrists considered painting your nails self mutilation and unhealthy. In modern days fingernail polish is considered a fashion trend all over the world. As a fashion trend fingernail polish colors started out as only clear, red, pink, and brown. Now a days there are all types of colors and textures and way to apply and wear nail polish. People even paint their nails to look more like how they should normally by painting a french tip in either white, pink, or nude shades. Professionals are trained as a job to give manicures, where they paint your fingernails, and pedicures, where they paint your nails. Nail polish is advertised targeting women but men also can and do wear nail polish. There are even fake nails, normally made out of acrylic, that are normally french tipped or a solid color. The acrylic nails are normally for fingernails but some are for toenails as well.
